The Russian Navy’s eighth Steregushchiy-class corvette Retivy was launched in a ceremony at the Severnaya Varf in Saint Petersburg.

The ship was launched on March 12, some five years after starting construction in February 2015.

While being the eighth Project 20380 vessel to enter water, Retivy is the seventh vessel in the class. It is scheduled to enter service as part of the Baltic Sea fleet.

Retivy is expected to begin mooring tests by the end of 2020.

Steregushchiy-class ships are designed by the Almaz Central Marine Design bureau and displace 2,200 tons at full load. The corvettes are fitted with Redut vertical launch system cells, artillery systems and torpedoes for anti-submarine warfare. They also have a flight deck and hangar that can accommodate a Ka-27 helicopter.
