The Polish defense ministry announced it has ordered an additional 40 RAK self-propelled mortar systems and 20 artillery command vehicles from the consortium made up of Huta Stalowa Wola S.A. and Rosomak S.A.

The contract has a value of 703 million Poland złoty (approx. $169m) and will see the latest batch of vehicles delivered between 2022 and 2024.

The May 22 contract brought the total number of RAK mortars on order to 122, and the number of accompanying artillery command vehicles to 60.

Based on a chassis delivered by Rosomak, the 120 mm mortar is designed and manufactured by Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW). The system has an automatic charging capability and is able to carry out accurate fire at a distance of 8 to 12 km. It is manned by four soldiers.

HSW completed the delivery of the first batch of 64 mortar systems in 2019, and is currently delivering the 18 units ordered in October 2019.
