Swedish defense company Saab delivered the third GlobalEye airborne early warning & control aircraft (AEW&C) to the United Arab Emirates on February 20.

The company previously delivered the aircraft to UAE in April and September 2020, under a contract from 2015. In 2017, UAE ordered the third unit, which has now been delivered.

In January this year, the UAE awarded Saab a $1.018 billion contract for the delivery of an additional two GlobalEyes, bringing the total number of units on order to five.

“Completing three deliveries of a solution as advanced as GlobalEye in less than a year proves Saab’s solid expertise as a provider of high-technology solutions and our focus on meeting our commitments, especially given the current circumstances,” Micael Johansson, president and CEO of Saab, commented.

The GlobalEye solution combines the Erieye extended range radar and other sensors with the ultra-long range Global 6000 aircraft from Bombardier. The AEW&C provides air, maritime and ground surveillance in a single solution.
