The Swedish defense procurement agency FMV has delivered 100 specially adapted snowmobiles with associated sleds, tools and spare parts to the Swedish special operations units.

The delivery ceremony took place at the headquarters of the Norrland Dragoon Regiment, also known as K 4, a Swedish Army unit specialized in arctic warfare.

Another unit that will be using the snowmobiles is the Karlsborg-based 323rd Parachute Ranger Squadron. Both units are responsible for tasks ranging from long range reconnaissance and indirect fire control to sabotage missions behind enemy lines.

Finnish company BRP Finland Oy was responsible for the delivery of two types of customized sleds, a work snowmobile and a high mobility snowmobile for operations in alpine environments.

The special operations sleds are based on the 600cc Lynx BoonDocker Army 4100 850 E-TEC, which offers high mobility in alpine environments, and the other is the more powerful Lynx 69 Ranger Army 900 ACE, which will be used as a work snowmobile.

Under the contract from September 2020, the Swedish defense ministry has options to order an additional two hundred snowmobiles and associated equipment.
