Two French Air Force Rafale fighter aircraft came into contact mid-air during an airshow at the Cognac – Châteaubernard Air Base on May 22.

The debris from the collision damaged a house in the area but no one was injured in the mishap.

Both fighters were able to land following the incident, according to reports.

Several investigations into the incident are already underway, but the French Air Force and the defense ministry are yet to release an official statement on the accident.

Local reports say the crash occurred at 12:40 pm, while the two fighters were flying in formation as part of the La Fosa national air meeting demonstration. The meeting attracted nearly 30,000 visitors over the weekend.
