The Pakistan Navy has commissioned the 2,300-ton offshore patrol vessel PNS Yarmook (F-271) that has been built in Romania under a design provided by Damen.

The commissioning ceremony was held at the Constanta Port, in Romania, on February 13.

Based on the Damen OPV 1900 design, PNS Yarmook is the first of two units to be built and will feature a main gun, anti-ship missile launchers and machine guns. The ship is capable of performing a variety of maritime operations and can transport both a helicopter and a UAV.

It can also launch two high speed RHIBs of 11.5 meters and 6.5 meters simultaneously and also has the capability to accommodate two shipping containers for more specific mission-based operations.

The second corvette, PNS Tabuk, was launched in September 2019 and is scheduled for delivery later this year.
