Two Super Hornet aviators safely ejected and were recovered by a helicopter following a training incident aboard aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt.

According to the navy, both aviators were assessed by the medical team on board Theodore Roosevelt and are in good condition.

The aviators were recovered from the Philippine Sea by a helicopter assigned to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 8 aboard the carrier.

The incident occurred on June 18 as the F/A-18F Super Hornet assigned to Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 11 was conducting routine pilot proficiency training.

The navy did not provide further details and it is still unknown whether the incident occurred during landing or takeoff or another training event. The navy also did not say what happened to the aircraft, adding only that the incident is currently under investigation.
