Three Dutch commandos were injured in a shooting in Indianapolis, United States, on Friday night, local time, the Dutch defense ministry has revealed.

One of the wounded soldiers from the Commando Corps is in critical condition, while the other two are conscious and approachable, according to the defense ministry.

The shooting took place in front of the hotel where the commandos were staying for the duration of a military exercise taking place in the state of Indiana.

The incident that took place outside the Hampton Inn hotel occurred during the soldiers’ free time, the ministry further said.

An investigation into the incident is already underway but no arrests have been made yet. Local police said that they believe the shooting was the result of an earlier altercation between the commandos and potential suspects.
