Iveco Defense Vehicles (IDV), a subsidiary of the Iveco Group, has officially signed the second phase of a contract for 1,107 military trucks with the Romanian Ministry of National Defense.

In 2020, Italian vehicle manufacturer IDV initiated construction of a plant in Petresti, Romania, as part of an ongoing initiative in conjunction with a frame agreement signed on December 30, 2019.

This agreement covers over 2,900 high mobility trucks, with 942 of these vehicles already delivered, and the remaining vehicles from this second batch are scheduled for delivery over the next three years.

The framework agreement includes four categories of military logistical platforms based on IDV’s high mobility truck range: the 4×4, 6×6, 8×8, and 8×8 Prime Mover, which can be further divided into 16 distinct variations. Approximately one-third of these variations incorporate armored cabins, catering to specific configurations demanded by the Romanian defense ministry.

According to the manufacturer, the high mobility trucks are equipped with a Central Tyre Inflation System (CTIS), black-out lights, self-recovery winches, and tactical axles. These features enhance their mobility, fording capability, and C-130 air transportability, making them suitable for providing tactical support in military scenarios.
