Following the signing of a contract between the defense ministries of Israel and Montenegro, Israeli defense contractor Elbit Systems will be delivering its remote controlled weapon stations (RCWS) for new Montenegrin joint light tactical vehicles.

Elbit Systems will perform full integration of the RCWS onboard the new Oshkosh Defense 4X4s over a three-year period and will provide logistic support for a seven-year period.

Elbit Systems’ 12.7mm RCWS is lightweight, low silhouette, dual axis and stabilized, and is mounted externally onboard armored vehicles. The RCWS offers firing on-the-move and is operated via handles and smart displays by the gunner from within the vehicle, providing protection for the vehicle’s crew who are safely located inside.

Montenegro is set to receive its first Oshkosh JLTVs in 2020 after signing a contract in October 2019. The procurement of 67 vehicles under a contract worth $36.1 million is the first such acquisition in 40 years. Montenegro is also the first European customer for the Oshkosh JLTV.

“We are very proud to introduce our RCWS to Montenegro’s Armed Forces. This award further expands our NATO customer base and strengthens our growing cooperation with Oshkosh,” Yehuda (Udi) Vered, General Manager of Elbit Systems Land division, commented.
