Slovenia welcomed 37 new Oshkosh Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTVs) at the Port of Koper, on December 29, 2023.

The acquisition process commenced in September 2021 with the signing of a letter of offer and acceptance by the governments of the United States and Slovenia, enabling the Slovenian Armed Forces (SAF) to enhance capabilities through the procurement of vehicles from Oshkosh Defense.

In the initial tranche of 2021, the SAF acquired 38 units of JLTVs. With the recent addition of 37 new units, the total fleet now stands at 75. The plan outlines that Slovenians are set to receive an additional 86 units throughout the current and upcoming year, ultimately reaching a total fleet size of 161.

The third installment includes a set of 47 JLTVs ordered in 2022, expected to be received this year. The fourth allocation encompasses 39 JLTVs, donated by the Pentagon to its ally as reimbursement for the military equipment and ammunition sent by the Slovenes to the Ukrainian military.

In addition to Slovenia’s acquisitions, Oshkosh Defense announced in December 2023 that the Israeli Ministry of Defense (IMOD) has placed two orders for Oshkosh JLTVs intended for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). These orders include a total of 75 JLTVs through Foreign Military Sale (FMS), along with additional units obtained via Direct Commercial Sale (DCS).
