The US Defense Department has awarded Lockheed Martin a $1.1 billion contract fro the delivery of Guided Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (GMLRS) to Poland and South Korea.

Lockheed Martin is expected to complete work under the contract by September 2022.

The contract comes after the US state department approved the sale of High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) M142 launchers to Poland in November 2018.

The $655 million sale included twenty HIMARS launchers, thirty-six GMLRS, thirty Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS), twenty-four M1151A1 High Mobility Multi-purpose Wheeled Vehicles, and other support items.

GMLRS is an all-weather rocket fired from the self-propelled M270 MLRS or the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System.

The MLRS is operational with the US Army, while fourteen other countries already operate or have the system on order.
