Russia’s second Project 22350 frigate Admiral Kasatonov completes trials

The Russian Navy’s second Project 22350 frigate Admiral Kasatonov has completed its testing program and is ready for delivery to the navy.

The frigate is currently en route to the Baltic Sea where it will become part of the Baltic Sea fleet.

The frigate’s testing program included the launching of Kalibr cruise missiles at a coastal target in the Arkhangelsk region, in addition to testing Kalibr and Onyx cruise missiles on at sea targets.

Admiral Kasatonov is being delivered after starting sea trials in late 2018. the lead ship, Admiral Gorshkov, entered service in 2018.

The 135-meter ships displace 5,000 tons and have a cruising range of over 4,000 nautical miles. They are equipped with the Poliment-Redut naval air defense system and launchers for Onyx and Kalibr anti-ship missiles. The ships are also equipped with torpedoes and embark Ka-27 anti-submarine warfare helicopters.
