Italian defense technology company Leonardo announced it has closed the acquisition of Kopter Group AG from private equity firm Lynwood (Schweiz) AG.
As outlined by Leonardo, the purchase price, on a cash and debt free basis, consists of a $185 million fixed component plus an earn-out mechanism linked to certain milestones over the life of the program, starting from 2022.
The acquisition of Kopter will allow Leonardo to further strengthen its position in the rotorcraft sector, in line with the industrial plan’s objectives for the reinforcement of the core businesses.
Switzerland-based Kopter has been operating since 2009. The company flagship product is the SH09 single engine helicopter, which Leonardo saw as a “perfect fit” for its product range.
Within the helicopter division of Leonardo, Kopter will act as an autonomous legal entity and competence center working in coordination with Leonardo.
