A US Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet from Naval Air Station Lemoore crashed during a routine training flight on October 20, Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake confirmed in a release.
According to the statement, the aircraft “experienced a mishap” in the Superior Valley, just south of Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake.
The pilot ejected safely and was taken to a local medical facility for examination.
China Lake, which is part of a test range complex supporting weapons research and testing, said the navy is cooperating with local authorities, adding it would provide more information as it becomes available.
