An Azerbaijani combat unmanned aerial system (UAS) has destroyed an Armenian Tor-M2KM surface-to-air missile (SAM), Azerbaijan’s defense ministry announced on November 9.
Azerbaijan has also shared footage of the event on its official YouTube channel. The defense ministry did not reveal which UAS was used to carry out the attack.
According to information provided by the defense ministry, the Armenian missile system was destroyed in the Khojavend district which lies in the Nagorno-Karabakh region.
Armenia has not commented Azerbaijan’s shoot-down claims or denied the report.
Local reports indicate that more than one of the TOR-M2KM systems had been destroyed in the conflict that started earlier this year. It is worth noting that Armenia first announced the delivery of Russian-made systems in 2019.
Tor-M2KM is part of the Tor missile family of systems used for low to medium altitude, short-range anti-air warfare. The Armenian M2KM modules are mounted on the KAMAZ-63501 8×8 vehicles.
