The US Coast Guard medically evacuated a man off a US Navy vessel off the West Florida Coast on Friday.

The 33-year-old sailor, who was transported from the Ranger-class trials support ship NAWC 38, was reportedly having hallucinations and needed further medical care.

The operation took place approximately 200 miles west of Tampa Bay.

US Coast Guard cutter Dauntless was diverted to assist and the cutter’s small boat crew transferred the passenger from the navy ship.

The coast guard said the sailor was in stable condition when he was taken to the Sacred Heart hospital without providing additional details.

NAWC 38 is operated by the Naval Air Systems Command’s Atlantic Targets and Marine Operations (ATMO) Division. The 192-foot-long former North Sea offshore supply vessel is modified to support air anti-submarine warfare research, development, test and evaluation (RDT&E).
