After completing preliminary tests of the first Bumerang combat vehicle prototypes earlier this month, Russian defense contractor Military Industrial Company (VPK in Russian) will start state trials for the vehicle in the summer of 2020.

This was reported by news agency TASS, which further reported that the company’s plant in Nizhny Novgorod was preparing a full-size mock-up of the vehicle for ballistic trials and anti-mine resistance tests.

The Bumerang is an 8×8 multipurpose vehicle and was used as the basis for developing the K-16 armored personnel carrier. It can carry a 30mm automatic gun and a Kornet anti-tank missile system.

VPK further noted that, once the state trials are completed, the company would be ready to produce the vehicles in any quantity desired by the Russian defense ministry.
