The Serbian Armed Forces have carried out a test of the RLN-IC missile from the indigenously developed Pasars short-range air-defense system.

The missile test took place on May 22 and saw the military target illuminating 120 mm mortar rounds with the missile.

RLN-IC is based on a modified Soviet Vympel K-13 (R-13M) infrared homing air-to-air missile, and is developed for the third and final variant of the Pasars system that would feature two missile launchers and a Bofors 40 mm anti-aircraft gun.

The previous two versions of the Pasars first incorporated the Russian Igla and later the MBDA-developed Mistral 3 missiles.

The Serbian defense ministry said the latest test was carried out to evaluate the “FM-1” version of the system, with improved infrared homing capability and a new, more powerful warhead.

Pasars is based on the chassis of a fap-2026 6×6 truck, with an armored cabin delivered by Zastava Kamioni.
