The Russian Navy's Pacific Fleet has commissioned the service's ninth Improved Kilo-class submarine Magadan in a ceremony in St. Petersburg.
The keel-laying ceremonies included the official start of construction on two unique Borei-A class submarines that will launch cruise missiles.
Construction works on Magadan started on November 1, 2019, and the submarine is now at over 80 percent complete.
The Russian Navy officially received its eighth Improved Kilo-class submarine from shipbuilder Admiralty Shipyards in a ceremony in Saint Petersburg.
The submarine should be ready for sea trials in some three months, once all tests are completed.
