The US Air Force has confirmed the death of one pilot in the crash of a F-16CM Fighting Falcon aircraft at Shaw Air Force Base.

The crash occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m., local time, on June 30.

According to the service, the Fighting Falcon from the 20th Fighter Wing was on a routine training mission at the time of the crash.
